Railway Junction Sofia
National Railway Infrastructure Company is the largest state-owned enterprise and sole manager of railway infrastructure in Bulgaria. The Sofia railway junction is located along the Orient / Eastern Mediterranean Trans-European railway corridor and is the largest railway junction in the country. It covers the sections between Voluyak - Kazichene, Kazichene - Stolnik, Zaharna Fabrika - Sofia - Kurilo and Birimirtsi stations.
The project Modernization of Sofia - Pernik - Radomir Railway Line is part of the project Modernization of Vidin - Sofia - Kulata Railway Line, also part of the Orient / Eastern-Mediterranean corridor.
The work on Railway Junction Sofia includes the preparation of technical projects and Detailed Spatial Plans for the modernization and rehabilitation of separate segments of the junction, reconstruction of existing and construction of new stations and other structures within the boundaries of the junction.
The collaboration of NRIC and Sofproect aims at optimal integration of railway infrastructure in the city, providing a quality transport alternative without compromising the living environment of Sofia residents.
