Access to green spaces

The study aims to determine the accessibility to parks and urban gardens for residents of Sofia. The project has implemented by the Sofiaplan team for the purposes of the initiative Green Sofia - a project of Sofia Municipality.

The analysis covers pedestrian access within a 300m range, from the entrances of green recreational sites (parks and city gardens) to residential buildings on the territory of Sofia. Both free and restricted sites are reflected. For this purpose the following were used:

• a pedestrian network with a rated crossing
• the average speed of movement of a pedestrian
• marked inputs (regulated and unregulated) of the green system objects

The survey results can be used in planning new sites in the city's green system, identifying priority areas with a marked lack of access to green.
