Binding NSI statistics to addresses

The Sofiaplan project linked the latest NSI census of 2011 data to every building in the Sofia Municipality. Automated geocoding (address finding) tools in GIS have been used, subsequently eliminating errors from incorrectly addressed data.

The result is demographic information (number of inhabitants, gender, age group) for each dwelling, type of heating (electricity, steam, wood, coal, oil, gas), availability of central sewerage and more.

The data are structured in GIS and allow for analysis and use in a number of other analyzes and projects: population density, access of Sofia residents to parks and gardens, bicycle infrastructure and others.
